Things You Should Know About Temptation, Part 4

Temptation starts when you are born again and continues until the day you die.

Matthew 4:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

Prior to being born again, Satan does not tempt man because he already has him. As the free moral agent God created man to be, the first Adam willingly bowed down to Satan of his own volition. Adam did not act as a single individual. No, he had all of mankind in his loins. Therefore, prior to Jesus coming into the world, man had no other option but to bow down to Satan. John the Baptist preached repentance, which means a reversal in your thinking, to reconsider to the point of being reformed, and to release the compunction of guilt. Afterwards, John baptized them with water. John the Baptist acknowledged that ONE greater than he was coming, Jesus the Christ, who would baptize them (you) with the Holy Spirit and fire. Being born again means that you have a recreated spirit that takes on the characteristics of Christ. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour and LORD empowers you to crucify the flesh with its passions and desires and to live by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
