Generational Consequences

Generations Donaldson Family_4480II Samuel 12:14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.

God is the God of sufficiency, forgiveness and mercy. The Prophet Nathan related a story about a rich man and a poor man to King David. This rich man had great wealth. The poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb, which he loved and raised as if it was his own daughter. A traveler visited the rich man. Instead of dressing one of his many lambs for the traveler’s dinner, he took the poor man’s lamb and served it. The story angered David and he decreed that the man who did this would surely die. Nathan informed David that he was that rich man who took Uriah’s wife and had him killed. David confessed and God forgave him. Four things happened as a result of David’s sin. 1.) David demonstrated to God and others that he did not consider God to be the All-Sufficient God and what God gives is not enough. 2.) David’s sin gave great occasion for the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, which is to treat the LORD with contempt, disrespect, and disdain. 3.) David was granted his life, but it caused the death of his son. 4.) It caused a generational curse on his house. The LORD wants to bless you and the generations of your children forever. He loves the righteous and will not abandon his faithful ones. But wrongdoers will be completely destroyed and the offspring of the wicked will perish. One translation of Psalms 37:27 says, “Avoid evil, do good, and live forever”. Be a blessing to your offsprings.

Prayer for today: Father, you are the All-Sufficient One. Help me, I pray, to live righteously before you and to pass on blessings to my generations of offsprings. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
