Five Characteristics of a Wise Man

Five Characteristics of a Wise Man - rose3Matthew 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.   There are five characteristics that are prevalent in a wise man. 1.) A wise man does not let pride hinder him from accomplishing his assignment. Proverbs tell us that pride comes before destruction and an arrogant spirit before a fall. 2.) A wise man will ask for help. Solomon asked God to give him wisdom and knowledge so that he could lead God’s people. Resist the urge to be prideful or ashamed to ask God for wisdom. He will grant your request and He will not rebuke you for asking. 3.) A wise man listens attentively. Solomon encouraged his son to listen (pay attention) to the words of the wise and to obey his instructions. Even the angels of the LORD listen to each of His commands to carry out His plans. Listening is a virtue, which has to be developed. 4.) A wise man carefully obeys the commands of the LORD. God told Joshua to meditate day and night on the book of the law so that he may observe to do all that was written in it. Likewise, we are to meditate on God’s word day and night, hide it in our hearts, and carefully and diligently obey them. 5.) A wise man builds his house upon a sure foundation, Jesus Christ the Rock of our salvation. Just as the rain, the floods, and the winds will beat upon your physical dwelling, these elements will form in the most unexpected ways and will beat upon your life. When those days come, do not fret. Be encouraged! Just hear God’s sayings and do what He says. Your house (life) will not collapse under the pressure because you are built upon the Rock.

Prayer for today: Father, I say what you say. “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold”.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
