Is It Time To Separate?

separate 5419787_origII Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again, not of the flesh, but of the Spirit.  When your spirit has been recreated the old you, which operated in the flesh passes away.  The new you emerge with the endowment of the indwelling presence of the Spirit of God to help you operate by his Spirit.   You become a new species of being that has never existed before.  Paul is writing to the believers at Corinth by the Spirit of God.  God’s command to them was “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers”.  Unequally yoked is a military term, which means to keep your ranks and do not leave Christians to join up with unbelievers.  To help the Corinthians to understand the gravity of their decisions to break rank, Paul proceeded to ask them five questions that encouraged thought evoking responses.  1.)  What fellowship do those in right-standing with God have with evil doers?  None!  Proverbs tell us that the righteousness of God protects the person of integrity, but wickedness brings down the sinner.  2.) What does light have in common with darkness?  None!  I John tell us that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.  3.)  What concord (harmony) does Christ have with Belial (the worthless one, Satan)?   No harmony at all for Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth whereas Satan, the devil, is the father of lies.   4.)  What does a believer have in common with an infidel (unbeliever)?  None!  Jesus said, “…come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them…”  It does not matter whether they are good people; if they do not believe, there is no union; nothing in common.  Good people and God’s people are not necessarily the same. God’s people and good people without Christ are not governed by the same set of principles.  5.)  What union can there be between God’s temple and idols?  None!  God lives in the believer; you are the temple of the living God.  He does not live in idols.  Evaluate.  Is it time to separate?  Allow Holy Spirit to help you to separate yourself as separation is needed.

Prayer for today:  Father, I am the temple of the living God.  Help me to let go of relationships and everything else that is pulling me away from you.   In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
