What Happens When There is Little or No Knowledge? Part 4

Fisherman toil 7942112588_702c803131Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

We have observed that lack and rejection of the knowledge of God by Israel led to: 1.) Experiencing destruction; 2.) Being cut off from the blessings of God; 3.) Going into captivity. Next, we will look at the fourth thing that happened as a result of Israel’s choices. 4.) They toiled without favorable results. Noah Webster 1828 defines toil as labor that causes pain and fatigue; labor that oppresses the body or mind, particularly with efforts of some continuance or duration. The Hebrew definition for toil is piled up trouble. “The Egyptians compelled the sons of Israel to labor rigorously; and they made their lives bitter with hard labor in mortar and bricks and at all kinds of labor in the field,…” (Exodus 1:13-14 NASB) To believers, toil means to work hard without the wisdom of God and the power of Holy Spirit to get the job done with ease. God sent Adam out of his place of provision and caused him to toil for his livelihood because of his disobedience. Peter and the other disciples toiled and did not catch any fish. Jesus told Peter to go out into the deep waters and throw out their nets. Peter said, “We toiled all night [exhaustingly] and caught nothing [in our nets]. But on the ground of Your word, I will lower the nets [again].” “And this time their nets were so full that they began to tear!” One word from God can cause your toil, which also means your trouble, to cease. Choose wisely; choose to know God and allow Jesus to make all of your days toil free. Tomorrow we will look at the fifth consequence of lack and the rejection of the knowledge of God.

Prayer for today: Father, as I hide your word in my heart, increase my knowledge of you. On the ground of Your word, I will lower my net to experience your favorable results with ease.   In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
