Even Me!

Girl Pointing to Herself fyi_g06_c04_voice-700x420Joshua 6:25And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

God is awesome and his love for us is unmatchable and irrefutable!  It does not matter whether you were a prostitute, a dope dealer, a liar, a thief, a murderer (physically or spiritually or even a murderer of a person’s reputation), a fornicator, adulterer, a Jew or a Gentile or whatever.  You are never out of the reach of God.  He loves us all the same and he can use us all to show forth His glory.  Beloved what He does not love is the sin.  Rahab was a prostitute in the city of Jericho and yet God used her.    Joshua sent two men to spy out the land, even Jericho.  They went and when they got to the city they lodged at the prostitute’s house.  When the king of Jericho found out that the spies were staying there, he sent word to Rahab to send them out.  Instead of sending them to the king, she hid them.  Before they left, Rahab reminded them that she and her family risked their lives to guarantee their safety.  She asked the spies to save them when the LORD gives them the land. She wanted a guarantee that she, her father and mother, her brothers and sisters, and all their families would be saved.   God can choose to use us for the benefit of others whether we are saved or not.  However, He sent Jesus to die for the sins of the whole world.  Jesus’ dying established a covenant to be entered into by all who will receive Him as Saviour and LORD.  It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute welcomed the spies and as a result she and her family were not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God.  Faith must never stand alone. Faith without works is dead.  We see that Rahab combined faith and works.  She was justified and considered righteous when she received the spies and sent them in another direction, out of the hand of the king.  Unlike the adversary, the LORD desires to use you, no matter what your previous station was in life, to do good.  Yes, even me!

Prayer for today:  Father, I repent of my sins known and unknown.  Thank you for forgiving me.  I avail myself to be used by you to do good and to show forth your glory.   In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
