Don’t Hate It

(Continuation from the title: “The Helping HELPER”) Paul continued with number 20 of the 22 commands and admonitions to the brethren at Thessalonica.  20.) Despise not prophesyings.  The gift of prophesy is the divinely inspired, supernaturally spoken word of God spoken by God-anointed men/women.  One type of prophecy is for your edification (to build you up), exhortation (to encourage you), and comfort (to give you peace) found in I Corinthians 12 and 14.  Another type of prophecy is for bringing correction (for repentance) and the foretelling of future events including judgment, punishment, and deliverance.  Isaiah warned Judah, Israel, and surrounding nations of God’s judgment and punishment.  He ended his prophecies with the good news of future blessing if they repented from their life of sin.   Both types of prophecies are divinely inspired by the Spirit of God.  Paul warned the brethren not to reject or make light of the word of God that comes through prophesy.  As with life, there will be some good news and some not so good news.  For the not so good news God has provided a way of escape.  The prophecies that point to the future are to be put on the shelf of your hearts while you watch, wait, pray and prepare for the fulfillments thereof.  If it is God’s word, you can be confident that it shall come to past.

Prayer for today:  Father, help me to not despise prophesyings, but to receive each type with joy and to make the corrections that you show me   In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
