Love Peference

1-John-4-16-God-Is-Love-red-copyLove is an overworked word without regard to its true meanings.  The Bible speaks of four categories of love.  Each category is important.  However, the first and greatest is “Agape” love.  This is the type of love that comes from God alone.  Typically we say agape is God’s unconditional love and we are right in saying this.  It is also God’s divine preference.  God prefers to love us. He loved us when we were His enemies walking contrary to His word.  Yet, because He preferred to love us, He sent His Son to atone for our sins so that we could prefer, love and esteem Him.  Jesus understood how to love His enemies.  He commanded us to love and pray for our enemies, which is symbolic of His sacrificial love.  It is easy to love and have good will toward those who love us.  However, God is calling each of us to the highest form of love, agape, which He alone is capable of giving to others through us.  Jesus commanded us to love one another as He has preferred to love us.

Prayer for today:  Father, help me to prefer to love others as you have preferred to love me.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
