The Clothing of an Ambassador

II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Paul reminds us that we are ambassadors for Christ.  As new creatures in Christ, we prepare to representative Him by taking off the old man, the old nature, as if to take off old tattered clothing and putting on the new man, the new nature, as if to put on new clothing.  The putting on of the new indicates that we are risen with Christ and as such, we set our affections on things above where Christ is and not on the things on the earth.  The deeds of the old man’s nature were corrupt with evil fleshly desires and intentions, which have passed away.  The new man’s nature is continually being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him. It has become new!  Being Christ’s ambassador is a call to living the new life that is only found in Him.  Put on your ambassador clothing and appeal to people to come back to God.

Prayer for today:  Father, I put off the old and put on the new to represent you and to appeal to others to return to you.  In JESUS name, AMEN.
