If You Can Believe

Believe

Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

A man brought his son to Jesus to be healed.  He was possessed by a spirit that caused him to have convulsions.  The spirit would rob him of his speech, throw him to the ground, into the water and or into the fire to kill him.  It would also cause him to foam at the mouth, gnash his teeth and become ridged.   The man asked Jesus if He could do anything for his son and if He could, would He have pity on them and help them?   Jesus made it very clear that the question was not if He could do anything, but rather if the man could believe.  “If” is a very small but very powerful word.  It is used to introduce a condition that must exist before something else can happen.  To a computer programmer, “If” conditions are satisfied, “Then” the program will work.   To believe means to have faith.  “If” the condition of faith in God is satisfied even if it is little faith “Then” your life program will work.  Faith in God makes all things possible to him who believes.
