Double Up
If you have ever been on a dark country road, then you know the value of having a lamp or some form of light. If you have ever been in a dark place in your life, then you know the value of wisdom (profitable words). Regardless of the situation, sooner or later, light and wisdom are needed to enlighten your path. Light is the Hebrew word owr, ore, which means happiness, brightness, clarity, and illumination. Lamp is the Hebrew word nir meaning a burner, fire, candle, to crease, or to break up. The lamp is to break up or crease the dark places in your life letting the light shine through on your situations. The Message Bible reads “By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.” Whose word is a light and a lamp? God’s word (Rhema – his spoken word or Logos – his alive and active word). When darkness appears, it is time to “Double Up” on the word of God by 1) giving attention to his word, getting a double dose of it through reading, 2) listening to his word via CDs, DVDs, church, …, 3) keeping his word in plain view, never letting it out of your sight, and 4) meditating on his word, planting it and letting it take root in your heart. King David’s testimony was that God’s words were sweeter than honey, and by them he received understanding. Seek the light of God’s word to burn brightly and break up the darkness. Double Up.

Prayer for today: Father, I praise you for your word. I thank you that it breaks the darkness and shines a light on the path that I should travel. In JESUS name, AMEN.
Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
Love
