I don’t See Wine; Nevertheless, I Will Go

Water-into-Wine-520x383John 2:7-8 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.  8Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

Imagine being a waiter at a wedding.  The guests are asking you for more wine.  You return to the kitchen to fill additional glasses when you notice that all the bottles are empty and there is no more wine.  You panic because the thought of the Governor’s reaction when you tell him that you did not order enough wine is unbearable.  Mary’s Son, Jesus tells you to fill six stone pots, which are used by the Jews for ceremonial cleansing and purifying, with water.  Next, He tells you to pour the water into the wine glasses and take them to the Governor and his guest.  This is a clarion call to exercise your faith.  Scripture says, “Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].  You don’t see wine; you only see water.  Nevertheless, you take it to the Governor of the wedding banquet.  You knew it to be water, but when the Governor tasted it Jesus had miraculously turned the water into wine.  When you have water instead of wine, faith says, “I don’t see it, but I know that it is divinely guaranteed and it will be what God intended it to be.  Therefore, I will fill up my faith quotient to the brim and go and do as Jesus has commanded.”

Prayer for today:  Father, forgive me for hesitating.  Empower me daily by your Spirit to willingly and immediately put my faith into action by obeying Your commands.   In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
