My True Friend

John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

When I was in elementary school, I purchased Lance vanilla crème cookies during recess daily.  I always purchased two packages, one for me and one for my friend.  One particular day, I only had enough money to buy one package of cookies.  My friend said to me, “If you don’t give me your cookies, I am not going to be your friend anymore”.  Over the years, Jesus has proven himself to be my true friend.  Yes, Jesus said, “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you”.  His statement, however, was for my benefit.  In contrast to my so-called elementary friend, Jesus laid down His life for me.  He chose me to be His friend, not His servant.  He continuously tells me all things that He has heard from his Father.  He continuously equips me to bear the fruit of the Spirit and to go and bear the fruit of souls for His kingdom so that my fruit may remain. As I obey His commands to love other as Jesus has loved me and to bear fruit, I may ask the Father whatsoever in my friend, Jesus’ name, according to His will and the Father will give it to me.  This is what a true friend looks like.

Prayer for today:  Father, you are my true friend.  In JESUS’ name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
