The Transferability of God’s Promises

Joshua 1-3 e53ef4dd10b7ee34880667c837be3068It is estimated that there are over 3,000 promises in the Bible.  The promises God made to Moses were transferred to Joshua, which is the evidence that God’s promises are transferable.    Some would argue that the promises are for Israel.  Jesus said, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”.  God’s promises have been transferred to us as born again believers through Jesus Christ.  Everything Jesus did on the cross belongs to us.  Therefore, we must be careful not to pray for things that do to belong to us.  Unfortunately, too many prayers are prayed that are not according to His will.  First John 5 assures us that we can be confident when we ask God for something that is according to His will.  As the Spirit of God leads us to pray, though the promises may have originally been for someone else, God will hear us and grant our petitions. Belonging to Christ makes you an heir to the promises of God.

Prayer for today:  Father, I thank you that your promises are transferrable to my future generations as they become one in Christ Jesus.  In JESUS’ name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
