Chastening Proof of Sonship
Chastening Proof of Sonship
Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Chastening is not a bad word. In the Greek, it means to provide an education or training or disciplinary correction. Though many do not receive divine correction well, those whom the LORD loves He educates through His word; He allows practice to become fit and mature; and He lovingly corrects improper behavior. The MSG Bible says, “…don’t shrug off God’s discipline… It’s the child he loves that he disciplines; the child he embraces, he also corrects. God is educating you; … Only irresponsible parents leave children to fend for themselves. …Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it is the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God.” This is a proof of sonship. No correction, no love. What real father does not educate, train, and discipline his son in love? Selah (pause and think about it)! So, judge yourself and repent so that you should not be judged, chastened, and condemned with the world.
