What Do You Want?

Golden-RuleWhat Do You Want?

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

“The Golden Rule”, as stated by the prophets of old, is still morally sound. It is a statement against selfishness. Selfishness is a spirit, which takes on the character of one who judges, who participates in faultfinding and hypocrisy. Selfishness is the act of advancing one’s own interest. The Pharisees were guilty of all three forms of selfishness. Driven by egotism, they selfishly presented themselves to be the authority on Sabbath day protocol. To advance their cause, they found fault in Jesus’ healing of a man on the Sabbath and judged Him guilty of breaking the law while, at the same time, they circumcised men on the Sabbath. David is another example of advancing his own interest by taking what belonged to Uriah: Uriah’s wife. Be aware of the spirit of selfishness lest it overtakes you. You get back what you give out. Be guilty of giving out the good.

Prayer for today: Father, selfishness is not an admirable quality. Therefore, I choose to be guilty of doing to others what I would have them do to me. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
