Why is Jesus Worthy of Being Followed?

follow-meMatthew 9:9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

Jesus called the Disciples and said, “Follow Me.”  Why is Jesus worthy of being followed?  He confessed that He did nothing of His own initiative.  He did only what he saw His Father doing and whatever His Father did, the Son did also.  He did not speak on my own authority.  The Father who sent Him told Him what to say and how to say it.   Why is Jesus worthy of being followed?  He went about doing good.  He preached good news to the poor.  He healed the brokenhearted.  He preached deliverance to the captives.  He recovered sight to the blind.  He set those who were bruised (oppressed) free and restored their hope.  He cast out evil spirits.  He raised the dead.  Even driving out those who were selling goods and services in the temple was good because they had turned His Father’s Hour of Prayer into a den of thieves.    Why is Jesus worthy of being followed?   Jesus is the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Him.   Why is Jesus worthy of being followed?  Everything Jesus did had purpose.  Following Jesus will give your life purpose, that Zoë (abundant) life in this present time as well as eternal life forevermore.  Jesus is calling you by name.  Father God anointed Jesus and gave Him complete authority to call you and make you His own.   God is no respecter of persons, which is evident by calling fishermen, tradesmen, an accountant who was a thief, and a tax collector who cheated people out of their money.  Jesus is worthy of being followed.  Won’t you be a follower of His today?

Prayer for today:  Father, you are worthy.  I have decided to follow you, no turning back.  Help me I pray to stay the course.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
