How to Maintain Joy

jump-for-joyPsalms 70:4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

Internal joy floods the soul of a believer when he seeks the LORD.  He is confident that his Father, the God of his salvation, will come through for him.  He is confident that God is coming again to save his people, his specially chosen people.    Regardless of what is going on around him, he makes a conscientious decision to magnify the LORD anyway, for his hope, joy and trust are in the LORD.  Habakkuk decided that even if the fig trees didn’t yield figs, or the vines didn’t produce any grapes, or the olive crops failed and the fields didn’t produce any food, or the sheep pens were empty and there were no cattle in the barn, he was still going to sing joyful praises to the LORD.  He acknowledged what God had already done for His people and he knew that he would find rest in the midst of trouble for it was God, who filled him with joy.  Like Habakkuk, our responsibility is to maintain the joy by continually seeking and magnifying God.
