Who or What Do You Owe?

debt_piggybanksRomans 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one an-      other: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Everyone owes someone something, something of value. Owing money or material things are not at issue here. However, if you owe those things, you are encouraged to square your debt so that things will go well with you. Consider this: there is a debt that should never be paid in full. That is the debt of love. As a Christian, we owe each other mutual love, respect, and honor. We love, respect, and honor not because of what someone has done, but because of their position, who they are in Christ. Jesus said, “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit…” Love is a fruit of the Spirit. You were built to love. God poured His love into you by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, owe no man any thing but to love him continually. Love fulfills all God’s requirements.
