Teaching from Your Book of Life, Part 4: Create Your Own Book of Life

Old Woman Teach Young Women

Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

In Part 3, we identified some of the qualities of a good teacher. We will continue with how to love and respect your husband. Why is this important? It honors God and is a command from Him. In the Old Testament God said to Eve, “… thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” In the New Testament wives are commanded to love their husbands and to see to it that we reverence our husband. Old women are to be examples of love and respect for their husbands and to teach young women to do the same. The type of love and respect required is Agape love. Agape is a fruit of the Spirit, that divine unconditional love that is strong, passionate and compassionate, tender, and devoted to the well-being of your husband. This type of love and respect can only be attained and maintained by the leading of and obedience to the Holy Spirit. Scripture tells us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. In other words, we as well as our husbands will be presented with opportunities to miss God when making decisions. This is why we ask God to give our husbands and us wisdom. So goes the husband, so goes the family. The decisions he makes will affect your household positively or negatively. “I told you so” is never a good response when he misses God. Instead, unconditional love says, “We are in this together and we will pray and get it right the next time.” Or “I forgive you.” Or “It’s alright, I still love you.” Practical ways you can express love and respect to your husband in a way that he will understand are: a love note, a phone text, sexual fulfillment, recreational companionship, physical attractiveness, a peaceful home and admiration to name a few. In Part 5, we will continue our study on the practical and spiritual things that older women should impart to younger women thereby giving us all an opportunity to write or rewrite the pages of our lives.
