Fight For It!

Fight Boxing glovesJude 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Sometimes you have to fight. But you have to know what is worth fighting for: the good fight of faith. Salvation is the Greek word sōtēría, which is all inclusive of your welfare (healing), your prosperity (spiritual, financial and material, and mental and physical), your deliverance (rescue from destruction), your preservation (long life), and your safety (protection). God has rescued us and given us salvation on so many levels. Therefore, it is necessary that we earnestly fight to maintain our salvation. As the LORD told Joshua to meditate on the word day and night and not to let it depart from him, we are to do the same. God’s word is truth. It does not change with time. Jude wrote to the followers of Christ because certain people had crept into the community of believers and were distorting the truth of God’s word. Hebrews encourages us to hold onto our faith. Over the span of time, men have changed the word of God for their own benefit. They have lifted themselves up as the new revelator of God’s word encouraging people to follow them. Salvation is a gift received by faith in Jesus Christ. The message to the believer is to not be deceived. But rather, fight against every spirit that is contrary to the word of God. I John 4:1 says do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. In order to test the spirit, you are encouraged to hide the word of God in your heart so that you will not be tempted to give up your gift of salvation and walk away from the faith to destruction.

Prayer for today: Father, by faith in Jesus Christ and by the power of Holy Spirit, I earnestly content for the faith for which I have been chosen. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
