Have Enough Confidence to Ask

Child-Praying1I John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Confidence is developed by asking God to manifest His will in your life and diligently and persistently giving Him thanks for hearing and answering your prayer.  Confidence is knowing that God will say yes as you pray His will.  “For all the promises of God in him [Christ Jesus] are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”  Let’s look at four reasons why prayers are not answered and how we can develop confidence in Him.  1.) The heart condemns us when we have not obeyed God’s command.  But God is greater than our hearts.  Therefore, we can have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from Him because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.  2.) We do not petition God because we do not know that we can ask, so we do not ask.  Jesus encourages us to ask for anything in His name and we will receive, and our joy will be complete.  3.) We do not know what to ask.   What can we ask and get results?  We can ask anything according to His will, which is His word.  Granted, sometimes we do not know what to pray.  Holy Spirit intercedes and prays out the perfect will of God for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.    4.) We do not believe that God will give us what we desire of Him.  Psalms 37:4 says, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart”.  But we must have enough confidence to ask.  “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that is we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions we have desired of Him.”  Develop your confidence.  ASK!

Prayer for today:  Father, thank you for sending Holy Spirit to help me develop and maintain my confidence in You.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
