Secret Faults and Presumptuous Sins

arrogant bossPsalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Whatever our hearts meditate on will come out of us whether it is by the words we speak or the actions we take. Proverbs tell us to watch over and to guard our hearts diligently. David asked the question, “How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?” (NLT) Because David was in covenant with God he prayed that what he said and did was acceptable in God’s sight. First, he asked God to cleanse him from his secret faults. Everyone has them and the longer we are around people; they will witness our seepage of faults like small amounts of water seeping from a dam/reservoir. If we ask God to forgive us He will cleanse us as well. Second, he asked God to keep him from presumptuous sins. In other words, help him to resist being arrogant and proud. God has blessed us and come to our rescue on so many occasions that it would be easy to brag saying, “God hears and answers my prayers”. But we have nothing to brag about. It was God alone being faithful to hear and answer our prayers when we prayed His words back to Him. Third, recognizing that the LORD was his strength, David asked God to strengthen him. Strength is available to us today by the power of Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ has become our Redeemer from presumptuous and all other types of sin. It pleases God when we exercise the dominance he has given us over our thought life and our speech. Diligently guard your heart and speech and control them by meditating on the word of God.

Prayer for today: Father, I ask you to cleanse me from secret faults and keep me from presumptuous sins. Help me to dominate them and let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable to You. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
