What Do You Have Faith For?

Bible-in-lightRomans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

In the Christian world, it is common knowledge that God promised to make Abraham the father of many nations (different peoples).  These nations were to come through Sarah, who was well past the age of having children and he was very, very old himself. Abraham was fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was able to do. As I did a word study on the word persuaded, I found that it meant faith. Faith is the Greek word pístis, a derivative of peithô, which means to be persuaded, to come to trust. According to Strong’s Concordance Helps Word-Studies, “Faith is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. For the believer, it is “God’s Divine persuasion” – and, therefore, distinct from human belief (confidence), yet involving it. The LORD continuously births faith in the yielded believer …” There are simply too many amazing things about the LORD that the human mind alone can comprehend. But, that’s ok because it is God’s job to watch over His word to perform it. It is our job as Christians to believe that what God has promised in His word, He is willing and able to do it. It is not necessary to know how or when it will happen; just come to trust that it will happen. It would take a lifetime to capitalize on all the promises found in the Bible. Search the Scriptures and stagger not at the promises of God. Just be as strong as Abraham was in faith giving God the glory. Now it is your turn to watch God bring the promises to past that you have faith for, while at the same time, giving God the glory because you are fully persuaded that He will do it.
