Seek Peace and Salvation

couple-arguingI Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Paul continued his outline of 22 commands and admonitions for the brethren. (Continuation from the title: “Authority, Service, and Honor”) 9.) Be at peace among yourselves. For the brethren, the command is, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. One of the many divisive tactics Satan uses to divide Christians is purification (ceremonial cleansing, baptism). John the Baptist’s disciples and the Jews disturbed the peace by debating over ceremonial cleansing and who was gaining more disciples, John or Jesus. To restore the peace, John reminded them that he was not the Messiah. He only came to prepare the way for the Messiah. Furthermore, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven …” God’s word can stand on its own. The doctrine of Baptism arguments among the brethren does not bring peace or salvation. Jesus is the Prince of Peace and it is through Him and Him alone that salvation comes. Arguments of any kind are useless. Therefore, seek the God-kind of peace and salvation from everything that plagues you.

Prayer for today: Father, I thank you for the Prince of Peace who came to restore my peace. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
