This is the Time to Follow

follow-upI Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

(Continuation from the title: “Evil for Evil or Vindication, Which is It?”) Paul continued to explain the 22 commands and admonition to the brethren at Thessalonica. 15.) Follow that which is good. There are many definitions in the Greek for the word good. Good in this text means benefit. Paul urged the brethren to do that which is beneficial for others. God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power. God was with Jesus and He went about doing good deeds. Was it a benefit for Him? Yes, from the perspective that He followed the perfect will of His Father God. Was it a benefit for us? Most definitely, it was a benefit for us, the brethren, in that through Jesus’ obedience all the way to the cross and His resurrection from the dead, we were purchased with His blood and now we belong to Him. What an awesome benefit! We belong to Him; He is with us; and as the Good Shepherd of His flock, He will take care of us. We are to follow His example: Do what is beneficial for others, as well as yourself, according to His word. So, whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your strength. When you are a benefit to others, you will receive a harvest of benefits, some 30, or 60, or 100-fold more than what you give to others, even eternal life. Follow Jesus!

Prayer for today: Father, I ask for help to remain in position to receive a continual anointing of Holy Spirit power to be a benefit to others. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
