Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Stay-or-goI Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

(Continuation from the title: “Don’t Hate It”) Paul ended the 22 commands and admonitions to the brethren at Thessalonica.  22.) Abstain from all appearance of evil.  Anything that looks like evil of any kind, you are encouraged to stay away from it.  It is true that you are allowed to do anything you want to do because God made you a free moral agent.  You get to choose what you will do or not do. But understand this: everything is not good for you to do.  Paul said, “… even though I am allowed to do anything, I must not become a slave to anything”.  Evil things or actions have a way of making you a slave to them if you allow them to.  Matthew gave an even stronger admonition when he said, “If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. “If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell”.  So as not to stumble (sin) or cause others to stumble and fall away from the faith, if anything you do may be viewed as evil to an onlooker, pass it up.  Trust Holy Spirit; He will tell your spirit whether or not you should do this or that and how to avoid the appearance of evil.

Prayer for today:  Father, I thank you that Holy Spirit helps me to recognize and to walk away from all kinds of evil for the sake of others as well as myself.  Help me to be an example of your manifested goodness in the earth.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
