Working Hard to Get to the Weekend

working-too-hard-620x350Hebrews 4:11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Work to enter into rest. It seems as though there is a contradiction in saying work to enter into rest. Working hard every day striving to get to the weekend so that you can rest does not necessarily promote rest. Rest that is truly rest is sweet because along with it comes the presence and peace of God.  Ecclesiastes tell us that there is a time for everything under heaven. Therefore, there is no shame in resting. However, you/we must not squander the hours of our lives resting only. True rest is only preceded by working the work that God has assigned us, individually. Refusing to do the work is a form of disobedience. After God’s creative work was completed, He rested. God is the perfect example of earnest, faithful and consistent work prior to resting. Distractions are the work of the enemy. He is diligent in his pursuit to steal our work time, thereby, robbing us of our God ordained rest. When God’s example is followed, you will not become a victim of the enemy’s tactics. Instead, you will abide in God’s presence, experience His peace and rest in His rest. Therefore, let us labor to enter into His rest.

Prayer for today:  Father, teach me by your Spirit to labor to enter into your rest. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
