Check Your Foundation

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

I woke up this morning singing “On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand…”  In 1834, Edward Mote author of the hymn apparently had the same song swirling in his spirit.  The hymn was inspired by Matthew 7:24-28, which tells us that the wise man built his house on the solid rock, whereas, the foolish man built his house upon the sand.  When the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house built upon the rock it did not fall because its foundation was the rock, not so with the house built upon the sand.  Your life is the house and Christ is the rock. Check your foundation daily.  As you build each day, stick by stick, God will grace you to build on the solid “Rock”.  However, the choice is yours.  The sand on the seashore is tempting, but Christ, the Solid Rock, is stable and will help you to stand in times of trouble.

Prayer for today:  Heavenly Father, my confessions is that my hope, my life and my future is built on nothing less than Christ my solid Rock.  In JESUS name, AMEN.
