Shipwreck Faith

shipwreck greece_zante_navagioI Timothy 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience: which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

How does one shipwreck his faith?  Faith is what a person believes about Christ.  A good conscience is refusing to let one’s conscience be overtaken by sinful practices, which are contrary to the true doctrine of Christ.  Faith is shipwrecked when one reshapes what he believes to fit what he is doing. In other words, rejecting the truth of God’s word and making up his own doctrine to accommodate his actions. Paul likened this phenomenon of turning away from the faith to that of stirring a ship onto dry land and becoming shipwrecked.  Paul’s encouragement to Timothy is also an encouragement to us:  Hold on to your faith, don’t let it sink or run ashore and become useless and persist in being obedient concerning God’s word so that your faith does not fail you when you need it the most.

Prayer for today:  Father, I ask you to be the captain of my ship so that I do not become shipwreck.   In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
