Family Love

I Chronicle 17:13 I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor. (NIV) 

The fourth category of love is Storgē, which means love and affection for parents and children.  It is family love.  It has been described as a love that accepts and or puts up with situations because they are family.  David knew that God accepted him and had put up with his missteps.  He prayed, “Who am I, Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And as if this were not enough in your sight, my God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You, Lord God, have looked on me as though I were the most exalted of men”.  Because of Jesus, He looks at you as the most exalted of men.  You have been adopted into the family of God.  You are His child and He is your Father.  He promised that He will never take His love away from you.  Why?  It is not because you deserve it.  It is because He lovingly accepted you into His family and He puts up with you.  Now, do the same for your family.
