How to Maintain the Addiction

Addicted-LogoI Corinthians 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

There is an addiction that God really loves. Stephanas and his household addicted themselves. An addiction is something that you habitually do. It is so strong that it completely controls you.  Addicted is the Greek word Tasso (tas’-so), which means to arrange in an orderly manner, i.e. assign or dispose (to a certain position or lot) – addict, appoint, determine, ordain, set. The NLT Bible translates addicted as devoted. Stephanas and his household were addicted to ministering to the saints. To resist the temptation to go back to their old way of life, Paul encouraged them to watch and be on guard for the coming of Christ, to stand firm in the faith, to resist the urge to follow the ways of the world, to be strong and courageous, to let everything they do be done in love, to submit to others with the same addiction, to support them in the work of the ministry, and to give thanks to God for them continually. God is looking for addicted people. Will you qualify as one with a serious addiction to upholding the truth of the gospel and proclaiming it every day and everywhere? You have been ordained by God to do this. This is your lot in life.  Embrace it and addict yourself to the service of the LORD as you serve the saints.

Prayer for today: Father, I ask you to refresh me daily so that I may be able to maintain my addiction to the ministry of the saints. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
