A Mother’s Love

Mothers LoveII Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

A mother’s love should resemble that of God’s love for us all. God has never forgotten about us nor given up on us. In truth, God said, “See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands…” Therefore, mothers should eternally love their children and never give up on them. One of God’s characteristics manifested in the fruit of the Spirit is longsuffering. A mother’s love should be longsuffering, which is to be patient with an enduring love. Young Timothy had a loving grandmother Lois and mother Eunice. They nurtured him both spiritually and physically. They did three very important things for Timothy. 1.) They prayed for him. Pray for your children at all times. Ask God to give them spiritual wisdom and insight so that they might grow in their knowledge of Him. Pray that their hearts will be flooded with light so that they can understand the confident hope God has given to those He called in Christ Jesus. Also, ask that they may understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for all who believe Him. 2.) They encouraged Timothy’s spiritual growth by diligently demonstrating a godly and faithful lifestyle before him. They encouraged his faith by teaching him that there is nothing too hard for God. 3.) They taught him to love the LORD with all his heart, soul and strength. They taught him that the Holy Scriptures are inspired by God leading to salvation in Jesus Christ. Also, that the scriptures are sacred and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness. A mother who truly loves her children will teach them the ways of the LORD. For the scriptures say, “Train up a child in the way he should go…” Love prepares her children for eternal life with Father, God.
