Check Yourself: Then Choose

Choose1Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Though we were all created in the image and likeness of God, we are individuals. However, we are free moral agents and our disposition is a choice we must make. So that things will go well with us, you will find a series of commands in Ephesians, Chapter 4. Here again, the choice is yours. It says refrain from lying by speaking the truth. Be angry, but don’t sin nor allow the sun go down on your anger. Fortify yourself so that you give no opportunity for the devil to cause you to participate in evil. Work so that you are not tempted to steal. Words that do not edify (build up) and minister grace (blessings) should not come out of your mouth. In truth the opposite of edification and grace is referred to as corrupt communication. Be careful not to give the Holy Spirit and opportunity to be saddened by your words and actions. Bitterness, and rage, and anger, and loud uncontrolled outbursts, and wicked maliciousness are to be done away with. Instead, the preferred choice for the believer is to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving. Through Jesus Christ, God has forgiven us of our shortcomings. However, if we do not forgive, neither will your Father forgive you. Therefore, the LORD desires that we imitate Him in all things, forgiving and loving one another. Check yourself; then choose this day whom you will serve; choose what you will hold on to and what you will let go of.
