Are You On The Tongue Patrol Squad?

Tongue Patrol Two e50ae2f18010d46f_75545827_preview Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

My mother ingrained this statement into my sisters and me. She said, “If you don’t have anything good to say, then don’t say anything at all”. The tongue is a very small, but very powerful member of the body. James tells us to take a look at the nature of the tongue. He uses the imagery of a horse, a ship, and a fire. He begins with the same acknowledgement as Paul. That is, we all have made mistakes and fallen short of God glory. James said, “… if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.” God gave man dominion over and the ability to tame ever living creature. But the tongue no man can tame apart from the power of Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is our helper. Allow Him to help you to get on and to stay on “Tongue Patrol”.
