Call Me Friend

Friend-of-God-2John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

I love that song “Friend of God”. The lyrics say, “I am a friend of God. He calls me friend”. God is really into relationships: marriage, family, and even friendships. Let’s take a look at God’s friends. God shared His plan with Adam and Eve. God would walk with them in the cool of the evening. He shared His plan for mankind through their union. His plan was for them to be fruitful and multiply and have dominion. Friendships are designed to be empowering. Enoch walked with God. The presence of God and his conversations with God were obviously so awesome that He was taken away. Undergirded by faith in God, Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.  Friendships are designed to be pleasing to both parties. God shared His plans with His friend Noah. He said, “…Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. Friendships were designed to have godly attributes. God shared his plans with His friend Moses. The LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Friendships were designed to be inspiring. God shared His plans with His friend Abraham.  Because Abraham believed God, it was counted to him as righteousness and he was called a friend of God. As iron sharpens iron, friendships are designed for a worthy cause and to edify one another. Friends walk and talk together in harmony. Can you be called a friend of God? Most assuredly you can. Come into agreement with Him. Walk and talk with Him. Demonstrate your love for Him by doing whatsoever He commands you to do and He will call you His friend and make known to you the things He has heard from His Father.

Prayer for today: Father, as these great men of faith are recorded in the Hall of Faith because of their faithful and devoted friendship with you, I ask for help to be continually worthy of your friendship. I want to hear you call me friend. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
