Obey God and Not Man

Obey God Not Man 31b8afad7303423028744ed1a916a64fActs 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

We all need the words of life.  The assignment given to Peter and the Apostles was to go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of life.  Commanded to teach the doctrine of Jesus Christ, they taught the Word [Jesus Christ] became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  They taught Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Him.  The taught in him is life, and that life is the light of all mankind.  The taught forgiveness of sin came through Jesus Christ.  They taught and demonstrated that Jesus is the healer of everything that plagues us.  The high priest and the council commanded them to stop teaching about Jesus.  In response to the council’s command, Peter and the other Apostles said, we must obey God rather than you mere men.  A Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, and well-respected by the people stood before the council to speak.  He asked the council to consider carefully their intentions to kill Peter and the Apostles for their teachings.  Gamaliel gave two examples of men who caused an uprising.  The men perished and they, which followed them were scattered and their cause faded away.  He pleaded with the council to leave Peter and the Apostles alone.  If what they are teaching is of God it cannot be overthrown because they would be fighting against God.  But if it is not of God nothing will come of it.  Praise God!  Here we are over 2,000 years later and the Word of God has stood the test of time.  Our assignment is the same as theirs was: go, stand, and proclaim the word of life to the people.  It is better to obey God than to obey men.  Scripture says, “What can man do to me?” Don’t be afraid.  Take your stance in faith and obey God. Give the people the words of life.

Prayer for today:  Father, I humbly submit my will to you.  Endue me with power from Holy Spirit to obey your command to speak all the words of life.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
