The Guiding Light

Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light.

When we were young, my sisters, cousins and I walked on a fallen tree across a deep, d-e-e-p cavern. Our oldest cousin crossed over to the other side of the cavern first. Afterwards, he called for us to come to him.   In order for the rest of us to cross over to the other side safely, our eyes had to be focused on him. In the same way, in order to cross safely over the obstacles in life, we must be focused on Christ. Proverbs tells us, “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord. Elliott said it this way, “The spirit of man, breathed into him at first by the Creator and afterwards quickened and illumined by the Divine Spirit, is the “candle of the LORD,” given to man as an inward light and guide. When your eye is focused on Christ, you will see clearly and your whole body shall be full of light because He is light. Step out on faith, focus, and allow the guiding light of the LORD to shine in you and through you to illuminate your way.
