What Happens When There is Little or No Knowledge? Part 5

Living%20waterHosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

The lack and rejection of the knowledge of God by Israel led to the following: 1.) Experiencing destruction; 2.) Being cut off from the blessings of God; 3.) Going into captivity; 4.) Toiling without favorable results. Next, we will look at the fifth thing that happened as a result of Israel’s choices. 5.) Being thirsty without the ability to quench their thirst chasing after other gods trying to satisfy what only the living God can satisfy. Habakkuk asked, “What profit is the idol [god] when its maker has carved it, Or an image, a teacher of falsehood?” Of course, the answer was none at all, for they trusted in their own handiwork. Their gods could not dispense wisdom nor quench the thirst for the knowledge of God. Today we see gods made of money, cars/trucks, houses, jobs, and even entertainers and athletes. God’s command is still as valid today as it was then. He said, “You shall have no other gods before me.” He said, “Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” Have you made any gods lately? Deuteronomy 28:47-48 says of Israel, “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things; 48therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in the lack of all things; and He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you”. Again, one of the definitions of destroy is to fail. God wants you to succeed. He fixed it so that you can’t fail, but it is not automatic. You must hunger and thirst for the knowledge of Him; He must be your only God; and you must allow Jesus Christ, the living water, to quench your thirst so that you may never thirst again. Jesus said, “…whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Choose wisely; choose to know God and allow the living water of His word to flow freely in you. Tomorrow we will look at the sixth consequence of lack and the rejection of the knowledge of God.
