Great Faith – Great Works

hands_of_god1Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Waking up each morning and looking out the window, it is difficult to comprehend the awesomeness of the LORD God. Everything in nature proclaims that the LORD God is sovereign. When I meditate upon His word, praise and adoration rises up in me and I proclaim mighty are the works of Your hand, O’ LORD God. To reject Jesus Christ is to reject God’s work through Him. Jesus returned to his hometown, Nazareth in Galilee, and taught there in the synagogue and astonished everyone with his wisdom and his miracles. His hometown folk wanted to know how it was possible that He had such great wisdom and ability to do those mighty works. After all, He was just a carpenter’s son to them. They were offended in Him. But Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own country, and among his own people!” So He could do only a few miracles there because of their lack of faith. Their unbelief had nothing to do with Jesus’ power to perform miracles. Because of their unbelief, they did not bring many of their sick to be healed. Scripture says that Jesus healed them all. That is, everywhere He went and everyone who came to Him or was brought to Him, He healed. The woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and immediately her blood dried up and she was healed. He felt virtue go out of Him. When this happened, she identified herself as the person who touched Him. He said to her “Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; …” Yes, mighty are the works of His hand. But know this beloved: you must bring your faith to the table to experience God’s mighty works in your life, even if your faith is only the size of a mustard seed. God through Jesus Christ can work with that. Great Faith – Great Works.
