Easy Prey

sheep-lambHebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

“I Need Thee Every Hour” is an attitude of humility. Humility recognizes that it doesn’t have it all together and that there is a need and a strong desire to have the LORD fully operating in one’s life. “I’ve got this” is a proud attitude, which denotes one who believes that he does not need or want help from the LORD. Scripture tells us that God resists (opposes) the proud but gives grace (favor) to the humble. The throne room of God is open to the humble so that we may obtain mercy, and find grace (favor) to help in time of need. Hebrews sends a strong warning that to persistently refuse to believe the living God and the power of His word lead to an evil, hardened heart through the deceitfulness of sin. Sin is turning away from God and willfully conducting one’s life independent of Him. An evil, hardened heart will force God to leave that man alone in his sin. But God’s love is greater than sin. If you are the proud, do not despair. God is willing through your faith in Jesus Christ to make you clean, to wash away your filth, to take away the stony stubborn, evil, heart, to replace it with a new heart, and to put his Spirit into your heart. Nobody but God could do this! Once the new heart filled with God’s Spirit is in you, you are encouraged to remain steadfast in the faith, to stay in fellowship with other believers, to talk about your mutual faith daily with one another, to be aware of the deceitfulness of sin and to encourage each other with love and concern. Why is this necessary? This is necessary because even a sheep, who wander away on its own, will become easy prey for wolves.

Prayer for Today:   Father, thank you for not leaving me in the condition that I was in. Thank you for my new heart filled with your Spirit. No longer am I easy prey, for greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
