Prove Your Love

true-love-quotes1John 13:34  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

If one says that he loves, then there should be some evidence of that love.  God demonstrated His love for you and me by giving his Son as the perfect atonement for our sin.  Jesus proved His love to us in that while we were yet in sin, He died on the cross so that we could live eternally with Him.  God’s love for Jesus is our example of how we are to love one another.  In truth, God commanded us to prove that we love one another as He has loved us.  Are we then supposed to die for one another?  No, our blood cannot atone for anyone’s sin.  We are to die to self (the flesh) daily.  Selfishness has no kinship with love.  Therefore, when we die to the flesh, love flows like rivers of living waters from our spirit to others.  Love treats people the way it wants to be treated.  No one with the mind of Christ consciously treats themselves bad.  The love of the Father, the love the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit is the three-fold cord that binds believers together and proves that the fruit of the Spirit of love, which flows from God dwells in us.

Prayer for today:  Father, thank you for loving me.  Help me to prove my love for You by treating others the way I want to be treated and loving them the way you continually love me.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
