Don’t Look Behind You

Lots-Wife-Overlooking-the-Sea-600x400 1080Genesis 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

Looking back at the things you left behind and wanting to go back either physically or emotionally may cause you to turn into a pillar of salt, which has lost it preservative qualities.  Lot, his wife and two daughters were rushed outside the city of Sodom by the angels.  Lot’s family was ordered to run for their lives and not look back at the city, which God had ordered the angels to destroy.  Lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt.  Going through the motions of following Jesus when your heart is far from it is likened to putting you hand to the plough and looking back.  Jesus requires those who will follow Him to have a righteous mind.  Willful disobedience makes one unfit for the kingdom.  Commit, this day, to put your hand to the plough and plough with a willing heart and don’t look back.

Scripture Reference:  Genesis 19:1-16,26; Matthew 5:15; Luke 9:62

Prayer for today:  Father, by the power of Holy Spirit, I will not allow those things that are behind me to hinder my eternal future with you.  In JESUS’ name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
