Fool’s Gold or Salt

Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Fool’s gold is a mineral that is found in a rock and looks like gold but is not worth anything. Salt that has lost its savour is like fool’s gold.  It is worthless and good for nothing.  Jesus declared His disciples to be the salt of the earth, which is worth something because they carry the pure, unadulterated word of God.  If the word that is carried is not sound doctrine, it is considered to be distasteful and unpleasant to God.  Salt, being the preservative that it is, if it does not preserve sound and good doctrine, then it is good for nothing and is to be thrown out and trampled upon.  God is looking for the salt that He flavored, gifted, graced, blessed and called.  He is looking for you to be the salt of the earth that is valuable to Him.

Prayer for today:  Father, thank you for flavoring, gifting, gracing, blessing, and calling me to be salt that you consider valuable.  In JESUS’ name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that. Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.
