Could Have, Should Have, Would Have, But …

Follow Jesus Invitation 137f090436492371c5724c3a6e7b3ab9Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. (NLT)

There is a clarion call to deny oneself and follow Jesus.  Not all will receive the invitation to follow Him.  When the invitation was given, one man said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.” Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family.”  Another one said, “I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out.” Yet another said, “I am married and I cannot go”.  Could have, should have, would have, but …  Five virgins were unprepared to follow the bridegroom into the wedding feast.  When He called for them, they had gone to get oil for their lamps.  There are many excuses given why people will not accept Jesus’ invitation.  But they are just that, excuses.  When the clarion call comes to you, take hold of every opportunity to follow Christ by sharing your faith in Him, which leads to salvation and eternal life.

Prayer for today:  Father, help me to seize every opportunity to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to share my faith in Christ.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
