Avoid the Ditch

blind_leading_the_blind_01Luke 6:39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

As a child, I was taught the nursery rhyme, “Three Blind Mice”.  It’s ironic how this rhyme parallels the question, “Can the blind lead the blind?”  As the rhyme goes, the mice ran after the farmer’s wife and as a result, she cut off their tails with a carving knife.  Following after anyone other than Jesus is like a vision impaired person following a blind dog into traffic.  No good thing will come of it.  Be careful who you follow, who you allow to teach you.  Neither your teacher nor you will ever go any further than the will of God known.  You will become the company you keep.  It’s like the game “Follow the Leader”.  You will mimic the actions, good or bad of the one you follow.  For example: If they forgive, your will forgive; If they give, you will give; If they judge, you will judge; If they condemn, you will condemn.  Follow Jesus and avoid the ditch.

Prayer for today:   Father, I have decided to follow You.  I’m just not cut out for ditch living.  Thank you for leading me.  In JESUS name, AMEN.

Whatever you must do today, there is a grace for that.  Accept the grace and make it a sweatless day.

Love
